Planet Fun Sound is an indie boutique record label based in Nashville, Tennessee, founded by Billy Power.
Billy is a lifelong musician who has worked in music for over 30 years. He was an A&R rep for Tooth & Nail Records in the 90's when he was the frontman for Seattle punk band Blenderhead. He also worked in merch for online and tour at Zambooie, and even managed a School of Rock!
Planet Fun began in the summer of 2018 in Lodi, New Jersey, as a home recording studio for Billy and his band, Spoken in Tongues. The debut album by Spoken in Tongues, The Nail That Sticks Up Will Be Hammered Down, was recorded there and released in 2019 (with the label listed as SPNTOREC!).
Power moved back to Nashville at the end of 2020. In 2021, he subsequently recorded, mixed, mastered, and digitally released a flurry of Spoken in Tongues releases, including the Tow Truck single (a re-working of two songs originally recorded by Blenderhead), the Ghosts covers EP, and the full-length The Light At The End Of The Tunnel Is A Black Hole. He wrote all the songs, sang, and played all guitars and bass.
Finally, in 2021 , he recruited a proper band with Clark Osborne on drums, Josh Hernandez on guitar, and Josh Rosa on bass. This new unit had its first official rehearsal in April of 2022, and in December of that year, they released the full-length album The Unreal And The Hyperreal Happening At Once (2022). They followed up with the first proper physical release (Vinyl, CD, and Cassette) officially on the label for the Awkward Future EP (2022).
In 2024, Power was approached by his longtime friend Mike Lewis (For Love Not Lisa, Puller) to play bass in his new band Tenkiller. He produced, recorded, and mixed their debut album, Burn The Boats, which was released in August of 2025 on Planet Fun.
Finally, 2026 saw the launch of a new label website and the release of full-length albums by Critter Brain (Untitled), Spoken in Tongues (The Most Lethal Fighting Force In The World), and more to come!
